This is Your Estate Plan, not mine.
Thus I, the attorney, am the "writer" but you are the "author".
I will listen to you, and explain the legal choices and options.
But you will make the final decisions.

Our Process

At your first estate planning appointment, I will explain thoroughly how the estate law system works, what Probate is, and why you may (or may not) want to avoid it. I will also listen carefully as you explain your wishes and needs to me. Together we will come up with an Estate Plan that meets those needs.

Next, I will personally use my legal skills and knowledge to craft the legal documents that we have agreed upon, specifically for your needs. You will meet with me, the estate planning attorney, and not with a paralegal.

Then, we will sit down together and go over those documents thoroughly so that you understand your estate plan. This extra meeting ensures that all of the estate planning decisions fit your family. We will talk about various options and you will have the knowledge to make the best decisions for you and your family. This extra meeting gives you the chance to ask questions and make changes once you understand your documents. Many lawyers do not provide this service as part of their package so be sure to ask.

We will talk about various options and you will have the knowledge to make the best decisions for you and your family.

I will also meet with you personally for a formal signing ceremony, which adds another layer of protection to your estate planning documents.

We do the work now, so that neither you nor your loved ones will have to worry about it later.

Choosing an Estate Lawyer

Choosing a professional can seem difficult. As a California Estate Lawyer, I know next to nothing about electrical work. So when my kitchen lights stop working, I’m in trouble. I need an electrician who can do two things — analyze the problem correctly, and then use the right tools and skills to fix it. Without charging me an arm and a leg, taking me for a ride, or burning my house down. It scares me to put my family’s life and safety in the hands of someone I don’t know.

Some people feel the same way about lawyers. Which is one reason why our first consultation for state law packages is always free.

As your estate planning lawyer I am going to have access to your personal information. In order to do my job well, I have to ask a lot of questions and get to know your family situation. You should feel comfortable with, and confident in your lawyer. I can’t do my job otherwise.

Single parent or same-sex family? We understand the important legal differences of your family structure, and can help you safeguard your family and assets through Single Parent Estate Planning and LGBT Estate Planning. We provide packages that include pre-nups, post-nups, and no-nups (moving in together). We also do packages involving step-parent adoptions, for same-sex parent families.

Should I use LegalZoom or other online Will Forms? Is this a risk that you are willing to take?
